Something's Even Funnier This Time

This laughing fit was brought on by a real cough from Tiffany. After we realized that a cough would make Isla laugh uncontrollably, we had to get it on video. We hope you enjoy it as much as we do.

Five Months!

Our little Isla was born five months ago today. She's getting to be so much fun! She's full of smiles, laughs and her personality is really starting to show. Her laugh is probably the funniest thing we have heard in our lives.
Here are some pictures Tiffany took today:

Isla has also become quite the food connoisseur. She's now eating apples, pears, peas, green beans, squash, carrots and rice and oatmeal cereal. Here are a few of the latest:

She finished her first bowl of oatmeal cereal with a smile!

Green beans - yummy!

More apples, please!

Happy Father's Day!!

I decided to take daddy to one of his favorite restaurants last night. He's been rib crazy ever since Ribfest!

He ordered a full slab so we could share.

Is that barbecue sauce on my pacifier?

Maybe I should just stick to my little piggy for now...

Here's to the best daddy a girl could ask for. You make me so happy every day! I love you!!!

Ribfest and More

The three of us headed out to North Center's (Lincoln and Irving Park) annual ribfest this afternoon. Here are the highlights:

Our second trip on the train.

Someone started to get a little sleepy on the way there.

Isla eying up some ribs.

Hanging out before we eat some more ribs and pears.

We had so many ribs, someone couldn't stay awake when we were waiting for the train.

Getting ready to get back on the train to head back home.

Here are a few other pictures from the last few days.

Three pictures of having fun with the wheel.

Having some tummy-time

Very interested in something.

Chillin' on the couch, planning her next move.

Here's the happy baby!

Smiling in the swing.

More Food for Isla

Over the past couple weeks, Isla has now eaten squash, carrots, pears and peas. Right now pears appear to be her favorite and peas are pulling up the rear. Here are some pictures:

Carrots...not so sure initially.

Pears - yummy!

Excited to eat the peas, but...

we're not a big fan as it turns out.

And then we decided to stonewall the peas. Not gonna eat them, Mommy!

Welcome Back, Mommy!

After a rough five days, Isla is happy to announce that her mommy is coming home again.

Tiffany's employer decided to let her go today. I will not name her company but we'll just leave it at calling it an extremely high class operation. Any company that denies a paid maternity leave because an employee is six weeks short of a year and then lets them go after being back at work for five days is simply awesome.

Here are some pictures:

Isla kicking it in her swing.

Getting ready to dig into her first veggie - homemade squash!

She was not sure if she liked it at this point.

She definitely likes the taste of her hands...

and again not so sure about the squash.

Getting some tummy time on daddy...

and then having a good time.

Chillin' on the couch.

Miss You, Mommy

Today is Tiffany's first day back at work. It is a very sad day here, but we all know everything will be okay. We do miss her and love her a lot though! Isla promises to look more like these pictures when her mommy gets home today:

If You Guessed 13 Pounds, 2 Ounces...

you win! Isla had her 4 month appointment today. Besides the 13 pounds 2 ounces she weighed, she measured 25" long and her head came in at 15.5 cm. Dr. Benuck was very pleased with her progress and gave us the green light to start feeding her baby food. Here she is on the exam table (before the shots):

Had she known she was about to get a shot in each thigh, I doubt she would have been this excited before. Putting her feet up in the air and rolling around on her back is her new favorite move.

On Sunday, we met the Murphy's over in Lincoln Square for Mayfest. Back before we had kids, this was an annual outing that included the celebration of our not-so German heritage with quite a few German beers. Times have changed, so our trip to Mayfest this year was a quick walk through the festival and deciding it was too crowded for the six of us. We opted for a few appetizers and a beer at a neighboring bar's patio. We didn't take a picture at Mayfest or at the bar, but we did get a few commemorating Isla's first trip on the "L." She seemed to like the train and was really enjoying looking out of the windows.
