An Open Letter

Dear Chicago Lady Cop who wrote me a ridiculous ticket today while several vehicles behind me were engaged in the same behavior, not to mention the countless others who may do the same in the future depending on the length of the minor road construction at 3100 N. Ashland Avenue,

Thank you for giving me my first ticket. Ever. As if this already bright and sunny day needed your little piece of sunshine to make it better. I hope I helped you meet your March quota.

If only I could cite you with an attitude/appearance violation. A bottle of hair dye, a dermatologist and a nicotine patch would really turn things around for you.

And I'd like to apologize on your behalf to my sweet daughter, who may or may not have added a few cuss words to her ever-expanding vocabulary today.

Sincerely,
Tiffany Kapellas
Yes, it's a "p", not an "r", as you wrote on my ticket. Maybe throw in an eye exam into your makeover day!

If you're a bunny and you know it, clap your hands...

We took Isla to see her old friend, Mr. Easter Bunny, on Saturday. She was awake for the visit this year and liked to look and point at him while we waited in a short line. Although she wasn't too sure about him when she sat on his lap, Isla decided to clap because she was so proud of herself!

Breaking News!

Let's go live to Isla's Tooth Tracker!

A developing story out of Albany Park today...A small pearly white object has been spotted in Isla Kapellas' gums. She claims it has been causing her some pain and restless sleep, or lack there of.

A source very close to the family has confirmed that a top front tooth has emerged and Isla now has 3 teeth! The source was unavailable for further comment or photos at this time due to an afternoon nap.

Road Trip!

Last weekend, we took our first family trip. The highlight of the trip was the Tom King Classic, a half marathon in Nashville. We headed down to Jackson, Tennessee on Thursday morning. Jackson is home to the Lane College Dragons and Professor Michael Kapellas. It's 524 miles from Chicago. Here's the story of our trip in pictures.

Beautiful day for a drive.

We departed Chicago right at naptime. Good move, right?

Tennessee or the Show Me State? Tough call.

Isla says, "Tennessee it is!"

Oh no! About an hour and a half to go and it's time for a major meltdown!

Great shot of the Mighty Miss that Tiffany took on the way there.

We made it!

"Thanks for getting me out of that damn car seat, Mommy."

"Yay, Uncle Michael!"

LP Field, home of the Tennessee Titans and the start and finish of the Tom King Classic.

(l to r) Paul, Isla and Michael with the field behind us.

A rainbow sighting as we left downtown Nashville. Never did fine me pot'o'gold.

Michael and me before the race.

Tiffany and Isla while the race was going on.

I see Tiffany and Isla with a about 30 yards to go in the half marathon. It's blurry because I am running so fast. Funny. Final time: 1:26:56

Lou patiently waiting for any crumbs.

Uncle Michael reading to Isla before bed on our last night in the Volunteer state.

Isla slept for the first 3 hours and 40 minutes of the trip home!

Here's the sleeping beauty near of the end of her record nap.

And a happy 13 month old as we finally made it home.

Sham-Rocker!

Love those smilin' Irish eyes! Happy St. Patrick's Day! Looks like someone also has a fondness for Shamrock Shakes, just like her mama!
