Eight is the Lonliest Number

Bosley is 8 years old today. He's become the second banana in this house over the past 18 months, but he's still our banana. Happy birthday, Mr. B!

Holy Cow! Isla is 18 Months Old!

Our little big girl is now a year and a half old. She had an outstanding doctor's appointment on Monday. She's now 33 inches tall and weighs 25 pounds and 7 ounces. She's talking more and more every day and is just a hilarious little woman.

Here are a few happy shots of Isla celebrating by eating an ice cream sandwich.

Welcome, Cadence!

Isla finally had the pleasure of meeting her friend Cadence last weekend. They had a ton of fun and really found each other quite humorous. They are already busy planning their next get-together.

Here's Cadence "smiling" for the camera

Cadence and Isla enjoying some rice krispie treats

Isla and Kameron doing some laps around the kitchen table

Lou taking a breather from all the excitement

Kameron doing his Billy Idol impression

Keaton, the little man everyone calls Buster

Nothing rounds out a trip to Chicago like a trip to the Lincoln Park Zoo on a 90 degree day.

YiaYia was here!

I couldn't believe it when I woke up last Friday morning. My YiaYia came to visit us for a few days. It was a lot of fun, but way too short! We miss you very much!

Happy Birthday Gamma!

She may be a lot older than me, but when she plays with me, that little kid comes right out! Love you!

Opa!

Saturday we took a quick trip down to Joliet for Taste of Greece. We sampled some great souvlaki and gyros. Isla really enjoyed the fresh loukomades (deep fried dough coated in honey sauce.) I think Isla had the most fun with the company- Kameron, Keaton, Big Yia Yia, Aunt Barb, Libby, and her Birthday Buddy Blake!

What a weekend!

We had an amazing Fourth of July weekend! Here's a recap of our fun.

FRIDAY
We started out at the park on Friday afternoon. Of course we had to hit the swings for a bit. They are definitely one of Isla's favorite things.

Here's the happy girl peeking over the swing.

SATURDAY

We headed to the beach on Saturday morning. It was a beautiful day and it was Isla's first trip to the beach since last year. She was initially apprehensive, but warmed up pretty quickly.

The fun began in the sand.

Shortly after that, she was grabbing sand by the handful.

Playing in the sand.

Looking out at Lake Michigan.

After not liking the water too much when we took her down there, she eventually decided that she was going to check out the water on her own - and brought her bucket with her.

Shortly after getting down to the water, we took her out to a sand bar about 15 yards from this spot. She proceeded to scoot off the edge and go face-first in the water not once, not twice but three times! After each time, and wiping the water out of her eyes, she said, "More!" We may have a little swimmer on our hands.

SUNDAY
On Sunday morning, we decided to inflate the puffer fish pool on our deck. Tiffany filled it up with water and the fun began!

The eyes, the hair, the teeth and smile...priceless.

Melting your heart one picture at a time.

Later that day, we all headed to the Murphy's for a Fourth Feast and more fun with Isla's friends Adeline and Estelle. We only have mental pictures of this event, but Isla enjoyed the company and got the chance to swim again, or should I say kick and splash, with the girls!

Isla was too tired to stay up for the fireworks, but Paul and I enjoyed the fantastic 360ยบ view of them from our rooftop. We could see the city's great display at Montrose Harbor while hundreds of fireworks lit up the night sky all around us.

MONDAY
We headed to the Lincoln Park Zoo with Isla's cousins Kameron and Keaton, her Aunt Jaime and Jaime's parents Craig and Jacquie.

The Lion House was our first stop. This guy was roaring like crazy.

This monkey was hilarious. He stopped harassing his pal sitting next to him for a few seconds to look at me and let me take his picture.

We also saw some penguins (not pictured). One large penguin swam right at Kameron and he nearly jumped out of his stroller because he thought the penguin was going to come through the glass at him.

Here's Keaton looking as cute as ever and getting so big.

Last year, Kameron got to pet the goats. This year it was too hot (90 degrees!) and all the goats stayed inside. These two were butting heads when we walked into the barn.

Across from the goats were the cows. Isla and Kameron thought they were pretty funny.

The two best buddies playing.

The annual parting shot.

And a second one.

Isla had so much fun at the zoo that she was asleep before we even got back on Lake Shore Drive.

After we got home and took a nap, someone decided she wanted to wear daddy's hat.

We had such a fun-filled weekend. We hope you enjoyed the pictures as much as we did taking them.

Finally!

After months of anticipation, our little big girl can finally walk without help! She won't do it all the time, but at least we know she can. And someday soon, we'll be running after her. Here are some of her first recorded steps!
