The Joliet Justice League

BULLETIN: Crime stops here when the Joliet Justice League is on patrol.
Wonder Woman, Spiderman, Captain America and...

The Flash!!

"Let's get this show on the road, boys. There's candy out there to be saved!"

Wonder Woman: "Can you really scale buildings?"
Spiderman: "Yes. I'm also selling two tickets to my gun show. Interested?"
Captain America: "C'mon, Spidey. You totally stuffed your shirt. I've got the real muscles here."

Hittin' the pavement and cleanin' up the streets.

"Keep up, Captain. The more criminals we put away the more candy we get!"

"My work here is done."

A final pit stop now that all the street toughs are under control.

Checkin' out the loot!

A well-deserved reward!

Another successful adventure for the Joliet Justice League!

The Flash: "Stay in front of me while I finish this candy. And don't tell on me."
WW: "Ha ha ha ha! I'll just get out my lasso of truth!"

Happy Halloween!

The kiddos woke up to some special treats in their bags this morning.

Someone was ready to eat the candy and gummies before breakfast!
Mr. Man looks pretty happy for not being able to get the good stuff (candy) yet.

Stay tuned for costumes. We're headed out to meet up with our counterparts for an adventure fighting menaces...

Whoa Nelly!! 3 months already?

That's right! And he couldn't be happier about it!

Gannon continues to live up to his "big boy" name. Last month at his 2 month doctor appointment, he was 12 lbs, 12 oz. At this rate, we bet he's surpassed 14 lbs now and will be wearing Paul's clothes within a year.

"Hey Dad, do you have an extra pair of running shoes laying around for me to borrow?"

"Ha! I'm just horsin' around, Daddy!"

I'm getting so big, my ears are starting to stick out!

I've got a sneaking suspicion I'm going to need a whole new wardrobe by next month...

5th Annual Kapellas Karve-off!

The fifth annual Kapellas Karve-Off lived up to its billing – if lived up to its billing means a 2 year old wanting to grab the carving tools and cutting into her own pumpkin, that is. Isla was very excited to get things underway. Especially after being surprised by a special Gabba friend template to carve.

Strangely enough, she was initially reluctant to stick her hands in the pumpkin.

After some coaxing, she re-discovered her scooping technique from last year and was flinging pumpkin innards around the table.

"Hold it for me while I scoop, Daddy."

Looks at those pumpkin guts! Eeeewwwww!

"Do you see my Foofa mask? Do you see it? Do you see it?" Yes we do. Yes we do.

Just making sure everything looks right...

A perfect Foofa!

What a proud little carver!

Once the kiddos went to bed, it was time for the second round of the Karve-off. It was a quick effort due to a restless little baby that wasn't quite ready for bed, but Paul and I managed to use our years of "kompetition" to create some pretty cool and spooky jack-o-lanterns.

Boo!

A weekend of Fall Fun!

October 15 was the perfect day for a few "firsts" in the Kapellas family, one more major than the other. One of us "flew" in an airplane to get a haircut, one little pumpkin went to a farm (E-I-E-I-O!) and the next day, all of us got to eat a dinosaur cake, meet a new cousin and have lots of fun family time!

Darlin' don't you go and cut your hair...

It was finally time for Isla's curly locks to get a much needed trim. The tangles had become too hard to manage and a little girl shouldn't resemble Sideshow Bob. So, we headed out to Pigtails and Crewcuts in Glenview for what we hoped would be a pleasant first experience.
"This is your captain speaking. We'll be cruising at an altitude of 4 feet and expect to be in the air for as little time as possible."

"Keep your head in an upright position and your cape fastened until mommy says you're done."

Objects in mirror are much longer than they appear.

The very first cut!

Lookin' good!

All done! And done with posing for pictures. For the final result, see the picture in the next post. Isla did a great job and her curls are even more beautiful and curly, of course!

Return to Goebbert's

After the morning haircut, it was time for Gannon to experience his first pumpkin farm. Afterall, he needs to learn how to pick the best pumpkins for the upcoming Kapellas Karve-off.

Just my size!

Finding his pumpkin was just exhausting!

Isla caught up with a few of her "friends" from last year. This is one reason why Goebbert's is the best...lots of painted larger-than-life characters to keep Isla very occupied. Or is it distracted from our pumpkin finding mission?

This is the one!

No, maybe this one. The "sit-test" is still part of the routine.

Daddy thinks he found the winner.

"Mommy, let's take this giant one home!"

Here's that picture I mentioned earlier regarding the haircut. So cute!

These are by far the best little pumpkins in the patch.

What a day! Little pumpkins, big pumpkins, gourds, kettle corn and great memories. See you next year, Goebbert's!
