On Sunday, I took Isla to see her favorite Gabba friends "live and in person" (as she says). Muno, Foofa, Brobee, Plex, Tootie, DJ Lance and Biz Markie made a stop at the Rosemont Theater for the "It's Time to Dance" tour. And boy was it ever dancey-dance time!
We made our rounds to the (cardboard) friends in the lobby, armed with a special glowing light stick.
You have to wear DJ Lance glasses if you're a true Gabba fan. And you have to ask a million times when the show is going to start.
I'm not sure Isla realized what was about to happen. But when the lights dimmed and DJ Lance's footsteps echoed from the stage, Isla could hardly contain her excitement. And from that moment on, she did not stop dancing, jumping and singing!
The Gabbas sang and danced to all of the favorites, including "Party in my Tummy". The Super Music Friend Show was performed by The Worsties and there was an extended version of "Biz's Beat of the Day," showing off his beatbox and turntable talents. And with plenty of other dancing bugs, dancing food, confetti, and streamers, this was the ultimate Gabba experience!
Then DJ Lance said the words that no Gabba fan wants to hear, "Yo, it's almost time to go!"
Isla (and the Gabbas) said, "Oh, no!" But, then we remembered all of the fun things we did for the day and said our goodbyes. DJ Lance thanked us for playing with them and said he'll see us all next time...
Isla walked away a very happy girl with her very first concert T-shirt. It had to be worn the next day, of course. And asked to be worn every day thereafter.
Thanks for getting us the tickets, Daddy. And shh...don't tell anyone, but I think I had almost as much fun as Isla! Listening and dancing to music is...AWESOME!
